About Terra

Aloha! 

My name is Terra Carstensen. I grew up in Northern California and spent my childhood traveling all around the Caribbean and Central America during the winter months. In 2001, my family decided to purchase a home on the tiny Island of Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean. Fostering lifelong friendships, working in an art gallery and waitressing, I developed a love for nature, art, and people. Taking my studies on my worldly travels, I graduated high school a year early with a 4.0 GPA! I invested in my mom's Kayak/Snorkeling touring business in my early 20s. Then went on to fulfill my lifelong dream of going to Australia! Completing a semester with NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School), graduating with a diploma in outdoor leadership and a Leave-No-Trace certificate. 

In 2018, I gave birth to my daughter, Ocean, who fueled my ambition to create my own baking business, which I still own and operate to this day. Through my life experiences, I've developed a richness of understanding, compassion, and curiosity for people in all walks of life. 

Since my first trip to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2013, I knew in my heart that this was my home. Calling me to the Island, I returned a year later bringing my best friend and life partner with me. From the moment he stepped off the plane, he also felt like he was finally home. Turning to me and saying, "Wow, I could live here." A couple years later we purchased a raw piece of vacant land with plans of building our dream home in the future. Growing up off grid and in an unfinished home, we liked the idea of camping on the Aina (Land) while building our home. As the years passed, as it does so quickly with new challenges and tribulations, we decided to sell our 3 acre parcel and use the profits as a down payment on our current Hale (Home) here in Hawaii. With our daughter to think of, we didn't want her to face the same struggles as we did, growing up in an unfinished home. So, here we are, making our dreams reality on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Having bought, sold, and gone through the mortgage process myself, and helping people has always been a passion, I felt I could contribute greatly to the Real Estate Community and decided to pursue my career as a Real Estate Agent/Salesperson and am also pursuing property management. I am an honest and determined individual who is ready to assist you! Whether it be in finding your dream home, managing your rental, or making sure the house your selling is priced at the best value possible, I'm your girl!
